ESG Snapshot: Issue 155
1ESG Snapshot is delivered by the Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia to 900+ sustainability & ESG professionals every week.
We analyse hundreds of articles, data, insights and resources from the most reliable international and national sources, filter & distil their importance, to deliver them to you in bite-sized intelligence.
Three Key Takeaways
1. The transition is entering new delivery tests. New energy agreements, financing and policy commitments are sharpening attention on what businesses can actually implement.
2. Nature is moving further into business and investment decisions. COP17 outcomes, Australia's Nature Repair Market and new finance initiatives are expanding the focus on measurable implementation.
3. Accountability is becoming more operational. Disclosure developments, regulatory enforcement and supply-chain tools are raising expectations for credible evidence behind corporate sustainability decisions.
More detail for Members in The Week That Was
If you find ESG Snapshot useful, BCSD Australia membership can extend ongoing intelligence and relevant opportunities across your organisation. But membership value goes beyond receiving information — it depends on what your people are trying to achieve.
Our new Membership Enquiry invites you to tell us what your organisation wants to improve over the next 12 months, where progress is difficult, and which types of support would help most.
Choose up to three priorities — whether that's understanding policy developments, benchmarking performance, strengthening reporting, building a business case, improving supply-chain data or exploring practical collaboration.
We'll review your enquiry and discuss with you which BCSDA services and membership pathway could genuinely be useful. An enquiry is not a membership application or commitment.

November’s Featured Events put implementation and international policy firmly in focus. Join NRM Regions Australia on 4 November for Nature as Infrastructure, hear thinkstep-anz revisit materiality on 5 November, and follow BCSD Australia’s EXCHANGE and LANDSCAPE sessions as COP31 gets underway. The UN Climate Change Conference — COP31 runs from 9–20 November, bringing climate implementation, finance and resilience to the forefront. Looking further ahead, our AGM and Year-End EXCHANGE is confirmed for 7 December.
A materiality assessment should be more than a one-off exercise for a sustainability report. As stakeholder expectations, business conditions and sustainability priorities evolve, organisations need to keep their understanding of material issues current.
Join thinkstep-anz and Port of Tauranga for a practical webinar exploring how to refresh stakeholder insights, test existing material topics, engage leadership and use materiality findings to inform strategy and reporting.
Speakers: Rochelle Lockley, GM Communications, Port of Tauranga, and Martin Fryer, Head of Strategy & Disclosures, thinkstep-anz.
Relevant for: Sustainability, reporting, risk and environmental managers.

Four parties. Different policy pathways. What could change for business?
Victoria's election could reshape the business environment across energy, taxation, infrastructure, nature and sustainability policy. BCSDA's new Tracker compares Labor, the Coalition, Greens and One Nation, including the possible influence of the crossbench.
